----------------------------------
Émile Verhaeren, born in Saint-Amand in the province of Antwerp (Belgium) on May 21, 1855, and died in Rouen on November 27, 1916, was a Flemish Belgian poet, writing in French.
In his poems influenced by symbolism, where he employs free verse, his social consciousness close to anarchism leads him to evoke the great cities he speaks of with lyricism, in a tone of great musicality. He has managed to translate the beauty of human effort into his work. (see Wikipedia)
