This set was bought by ma father 20 years ago in Japan and was lightly and professionally used for a few years, then periodically.
It was cared for and all accessories are in almost mint condition, being rarely used. The camera is working perfectly, developing in time only a few light use spots where it was held, on the rubber grip, pictured in this presentation.
Released in 2003, the Sony F828 was one of the boldest and most advanced digital cameras of its era — a true technological milestone that bridged the gap between high-end compact cameras and early digital DSLRs. At launch, it was considered revolutionary, introducing features that were years ahead of their time.
The F828 features a unique rotating lens-barrel design, allowing photographers to shoot comfortably from high, low, or waist-level positions — an ergonomic concept inherited from the iconic F707/F717 line. This unconventional layout remains one of the most celebrated and distinctive designs in digital photography history.
Sensor: 2/3” 8-megapixel CCD (high resolution for its time)
Image Formats: JPEG + RAW
ISO Range: 64–800
Storage: CompactFlash I/II & Memory Stick Pro
LCD: 1.8" TFT fully articulated
EVF: High-resolution electronic viewfinder
Battery: NP-FM50 InfoLithium
In 2003, the F828 was one of the very first cameras ever to record RAW images, and it introduced the now-famous four-color RGBE filter (adding “Emerald”), designed to expand color accuracy and tonal realism. Combined with its premium Carl Zeiss lens, the F828 delivered exceptional image quality and color depth unseen in contemporaries.
Its magnesium alloy body, sculpted grip, and professional control layout make it feel like a true photographic instrument — not a point-and-shoot, but a serious creative tool.
Lens: Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 28–200mm f/2.0–2.8*
This lens is the heart of the F828’s genius. A fast 7× zoom, fully internal, with the legendary Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating.
Focal Length (35mm equivalent): 28–200mm
Maximum Aperture: f/2.0–2.8
Optical Construction: High-precision glass with T* coatings
Zoom Type: Manual twist zoom (DSLR-like feel)
Macro: True close-focus macro capability
The optical performance of this lens remains impressive even today: sharp across the frame, rich contrast, and extremely low distortion for such a long zoom range. It was one of the fastest zoom lenses ever built into a digital camera.
The rotating lens barrel allows for effortless perspective control, making it ideal for street, portrait, macro, and travel photography.
- The shipping will be done by courier, with the best protective packaging, insurance and a tracking code, as I would do for myself
Thank you.
