Description from the seller
A distinguished antique British fish knife and fork set, combining elegance, craftsmanship, and historical authenticity. Presented in its original black leather case, this set is ideal for collectors of fine silverware and vintage dining utensils.
Dimensions:
Knife: 29 cm
Fork: 23 cm
Box: original 33 x 14 x 04 cm
County: England
The blades are silver-plated with traditional fish-serving profiles and decorative edges.
The collars are made of genuine sterling silver, hallmarked with:
WJ – Maker’s mark
Lion Passant – Denoting sterling silver (.925 purity)
Crowned Leopard’s Head – London Assay Office
Date letter “B” – Indicating the year of assay (likely 1877, 1937, or 1957 depending on font style)
The handles are crafted from high-quality faux ivory (possibly Bakelite or Ivorine), with a warm cream tone and ergonomic curvature.
The set is housed in its original fitted case, lined in velvet and well-preserved, adding to its collectible appeal.
This set reflects the refined artistry of British silversmithing, with symbolic lion engravings and hallmark precision. A subtle surface crack on one collar is present, considered a mark of age and authenticity, without affecting the integrity or value of the piece.
Perfect for collectors, connoisseurs of antique tableware, or as a unique gift steeped in heritage.
The best description comes from the photos, so please look at all of them carefully (part of the teapot and kettle repaired).
Each order will be packed with care and attention to ensure its safe delivery, and the package will be sent with a tracking number!
