Nikka From The Barrel Extra Marriage, a two-bottle lot of 50 cl each at 51.4% ABV from Japan, original packaging, a limited edition celebrating 40 years.
Description from the seller
Nikka From the Barrel, launched in 1985, celebrates the style of Masataka Taketsuru, who brought the Scottish distilling tradition to Japan. It is a dense, elegant, and accessible blend that combines the peaty strength of Yoichi and the fruity sweetness of Miyagikyo.
At a time when Japanese whisky was little known, this product conquered France and the world thanks to its square bottle and the blend of over a hundred malts and grain whiskies, masterfully blended according to the Japanese art of blending. It represents a perfect fusion of East and West.
The spirit of Nikka comes from two distilleries: Yoichi, in Hokkaido, with peaty and smoky malts, and Miyagikyo, in Miyagi Prefecture, with sweet and floral malts. Completing the blend is grain whisky, distilled using Scottish Coffey stills since 1963, which provides smoothness and creaminess.
The blend is finally matured in ex-bourbon and hogshead oak barrels, where it rests for several months to blend perfectly, in a process called marriage.
This limited edition celebrating 40 years of Nikka from The Barrel features an extra marriage, meaning the blend ages twice as long as the standard marriage.
