Two Scheurich ceramic vases from the Fat Lava era (1960s–1970s), West German, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear; heights 44 cm and 30 cm.
Description from the seller
A striking pair of vases by Scheurich, one of the most significant manufacturers of West German ceramics. The two pieces originate from the popular Fat Lava era of the 1960s and early 1970s and feature a particularly distinctive, vividly colored decoration. The deep black, heavily textured lava surface creates an exciting contrast to the smooth, luminous drip glazes in green, ochre, and white, which run in rhythmic rows around the vessels. The interplay of texture and glossy color melt gives the vases an impressive three-dimensional effect.
The shapes correspond to classic Scheurich designs: harmoniously proportioned, with a slightly tapered neck and pronounced verticality. The smaller and larger models complement each other perfectly and are highly effective both individually and as a decorative ensemble. This color combination is among the particularly sought-after variants, as it impressively showcases the typical expressiveness of Fat-Lava glazes.
Scheurich was one of the largest producers of its time and continues to shape the international market for Mid-Century ceramics. This pair is a characteristic example of the powerful aesthetics of the West-Germany-Design movement and an ideal highlight for collectors, vintage enthusiasts, or modern interiors seeking a colorful statement.
The vases have no cracks. Minimal chips and white spots, which look like wall paint.
The goods are wrapped in padding foil and enclosed in bio-styrofoam within a double-walled carton for shipment via DHL.
