Description from the seller
Set of 3 Jambati singing bowls
Origin Tibet/Nepal
Approximately 1950, possibly older.
Unique antique Himalayan/Tibetan singing bowl
Meditation sound instrument used in Buddhist traditions.
1) Jambati = 12.5 cm diameter and 7.5 cm height.
2) Jambati = 10.5 cm diameter and 6 cm high.
3) Jambati = 10 cm diameter and 5.5 cm high.
They are handmade, and the irregularities in the edges are a typical sign of handcrafted bowls and are to be expected.
The color of the metal is yellow, copper-colored with warm undertones, with a gloss that looks like darker streaks in a random pattern.
These scales are unadorned by tourists, but purely, originally, and authentically made, with a very beautiful patina.
They come from a private collection of a professional and are a model of craftsmanship.
Complete with bumpers and cushions, these are new.
The sound lasts beautifully long and is rich in overtones.
Singing bowls are used as sound instruments in healing and meditation.
Each singing bowl is unique and has its own character, tone, and timbre.
Quality sound bowls often have irregular edges, either very thick or very thin, and frequently display patina. They feature handmade irregular markings such as circles or dots around the outer edges. The surface (if not covered with patina) is usually very silky matte smooth, typical of antique bowls, versus a highly glossy, copper-polished surface of newly made ones. The metal may have a different color due to varying compositions (percentage of metals used varies). Shapes will also differ.
