Description from the seller
Carried away by a daring hot air balloon escape, five shipwrecked survivors crash on an unknown island where their ingenuity transforms the wild nature into a site of scientific experimentation. Soon, strange phenomena challenge their reason: invisible interventions, technical marvels, signs of a hidden presence. Their fight for survival becomes a gripping investigation, culminating in the startling revelation of the mysterious benefactor: the legendary Captain Nemo.
Born in 1828 in Nantes, Jules Verne grew up between maritime daydreams and literary passions, before becoming one of the visionary fathers of science fiction. A curious scholar of everything, he explored continents, the depths, and the stars through an imagination nourished by emerging sciences. An indefatigable worker, he published more than sixty novels in the series of Extraordinary Voyages. His work, blending scientific rigor with epic spirit, has a lasting influence on literature and popular sciences. He passed away in 1905, recognized as a universal visionary.
VERNE, Jules - The Mysterious Island.
Paris, Hetzel, 1905.
Beau cartonnage called 'back with an anchor.' One of the three titles published in this binding. Very clean binding with well-preserved gold. Endpapers are torn, and the binding is slightly coming apart, but overall good condition. Gilded edges. Interior fresh and free of foxing. Irregular gutter, numerous bumps.
Good example nonetheless.
