Yves Chaland presents Le Naufragé series with the album Une île pour un naufragé, featuring 12 original pages plus a signature page and a page with creation years (Nov 71 / Jan 72), from 1972, size 14.5 x 21 cm, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Rare, valuable, and exceptional!
Yves Chaland's early works (at age 14)
1: 12 original plates + 1 signature page + 1 page with the years of creation (November 71 / January 72)
I The Shipwrecked
Condition / Format: the dimensions are 14.5 x 21 cm (A5), with two staples at the top. The condition is quite good; the paper is fragile and should be handled carefully. Pages 10, 11, and 12 have detached from the staples.
This story must have been created before what would later become "an island for a castaway" and which was never (self-)published by Yves Chaland.
2: An artisanal comic book album created from drawings reproduced on tracing paper using the Ronéotype technique.
1 cover page + 32 pages (page 17 with signature as well as page 32)
Title: An Island for a Shipwrecked Man
Condition/Format: The mimeographed copy was printed on tracing paper. The album is bound with 5 staples and tape. It is in very fragile condition, should be handled with care, and would benefit from professional restoration.
See the attached photos from the Journal des amis de Freddy relating the story of this self-published work by Yves Chaland (this journal is not part of the lot).
These copies must be kept in the dark to avoid damaging the reproductions.
These two originals were given to me by Yves Chaland’s father and mother on the occasion of an exhibition I organised in 1996 in Bordeaux.
See: the photos from the Sud-Ouest newspaper article, the exhibition invitation card and the photos of Mr. and Mrs. Chaland and Isabelle Beaumenay-Joannet Chaland present on the day of the opening (these items are not part of the lot).
I am putting them up for sale because life is like that... hoping that the person who acquires them will be as careful as I have been with this comic book legacy from Yves Chaland.
Ps: The documents from Freddy's friends, the Sud-Ouest newspaper article, the invitation card and the photographs from the opening are not part of the lot for sale.
