Here is a beautiful alpine miniature from a single discovery in the Cornillon peak, Oisans!

Axinite from Cornillon peak is very rare; most axinite localities in Oisans are located near Armentier, the Glandon pass, Chamrousse and Combe de la Selle. Few people know that this sought after alpine species also occurs in the Cornillon, better known for nice epidote and sometimes quartz.

This beautiful axinite crystal comes from the best pocket ever found there and features a sharp 2.9 cm long crystal in combination with green epidote.
The axinite displays good daylight dichroism, with a brown axis and another golden colour axis.
Both species are slightly recrystallized at the back, the specimen is a complete floater.

A French alpine rarity.

Discovery and ex coll. J-C Perotto 1990's
