The Émile Hermès collection, which contains many beautiful or unusual objects, objects bearing history and meaning, is the origin of numerous squares. This passion was evident in young Émile from the age of twelve when he bought a cane for a few cents, only to discover that it concealed a silk umbrella! Canes pay tribute to this first thrill of a budding collector.
