Monteponi is a histrical southern Sardinia deposit mined at least since the 17th century for silver, lead and zinc.
The mine, shut down in 1987, is well-known for its mineralogy including the best phosgenite crystals in the world but also excellent leadhillite, anglesite and very nice smithsonite specimens.

Here is a nice and representative specimen of anglesite on galena from the locality, from the 1980s discoveries!

The Rollet family owned several mines in Madagascar since 1920, prospecting for new deposits, mining and exporting minerals for industrial uses (mainly phlogopite) but also gemstone roughs and collectable specimens. Founder Marc Rollet was a very early mineral dealer in France. The collection features many specimens of historical and systematic interest from Madagascar, as well as a variety of French and international classics from the last century.
