A Jaques of London 'Status Quo type II' chess set, including original leather case (complete).
The 32-piece partially reddish hand-carved chess set in a mahogany case, including the original leather pouch. Marked with an inscription along the edge. Includes the reference work ‘Chessmen for Collectors’ with mention of the specific chess set on page 131.

Late 19th century, England
Approximately 3 x 29 x 23.5 cm (expanded)
In very good condition with light signs of use and aging around, with discolorations and minimal signs of wear on the pieces, the wooden cassette with some scratches. The leather case is in poor condition (wear/damage around).
