Beautiful antique chromatic accordion signed 'Théophile GRIS – Accordion Maker – Thier de Cornillon, 49, Liège,' a Liège-based luthier active in the early 20th century and featured in collections of historic accordions.
Very rich decor in tortoiseshell/briar style with light inlays of a vegetal style, lyres, and a central medallion with a period portrait, typical of prestigious accordions made in Belgium between 1900 and 1915.
Chromatic button accordion, with the right hand featuring a staggered keyboard and the left hand with a single row of basses, a common configuration on the early Belgian and French chromatic models.
Long bellows, decorated, in visually correct condition but to be tested.
