This work stands as a rare and intimate testimony to the friendship between Karel Appel and Claude Fournet, created shortly before their celebrated 1987 collaboration on De Geverfde Man.
Executed in ink and pastel, the drawing displays Appel’s dynamic, instinctive line and vibrant energy—hallmarks of his late period—while expressing genuine warmth and camaraderie.
