Description from the seller
THE BLUE BAKERY is a vibrant and expressive painting measuring 70 x 100 cm by artist Flavia Delgado. This painting depicts a woman stopping in front of a bakery display window, wrapped in a light coat and a beret matching the bag she carries. Her silhouette, seen in profile, draws attention while the background of the scene immerses in a graphic play of intense blues and bold blacks. The striped awning and the baguettes displayed behind the glass evoke a Parisian atmosphere from the early 20th century, intertwined with a contemporary aesthetic inspired by illustration and poster art.
The composition uses a contained but expressive palette: cobalt blue, bone white, and accents in ochre and black. This use of color transforms the scene into more than just an everyday moment: it turns the simple act of buying bread into a gesture filled with nostalgia, elegance, and mystery.
The woman doesn't seem hurried; her posture suggests contemplation or waiting. Perhaps she is unsure whether to enter or keep walking, or maybe her presence holds a more intimate story: a solitary routine, a memory that returns every morning, or a date yet to be scheduled.
The blue bakery captures that suspended moment between the banal and the poetic, where the city, desire, and freshly baked bread come together on the same plane.
