Decorative Armour Set (Early 20th Century) – Qajar Style – Helmet, Shield & Arm Guard with Koftgari Inlay, Calligraphy & Courtly Motifs
A visually striking and rare three-piece decorative armour set inspired by Qajar aesthetics, most likely produced in the early 20th century for the Western market. This elegant ensemble reflects refined artistry, characterized by richly detailed gold and silver koftgari work, figural scenes, floral designs, and calligraphy.
• Helmet (Kula Khud): Forged steel with engraved floral and calligraphic decoration, fitted with plume holders, nasal guard, and an original-style chainmail aventail for neck and shoulder protection.
Size: Height approx. 26 cm (excluding chainmail), Diameter approx. 20 cm
• Shield (Dhal): Circular steel shield with a central silver-inlaid calligraphic band and outer areas adorned with figural and floral motifs in gold koftgari.
Size: Approx. 45 cm diameter
• Arm Guard (Bazuband): Engraved steel arm protector featuring courtly and vegetal scenes, silver inscriptions, and a well-preserved mail fringe.
