Description from the seller
A unique, historic copy of the book 'Industrie-Compass. Böhmen und Mähren (AND) Slovakia' from 1943 is a rare antiquarian item and a valuable piece of history. It is an exceptional annual publication on industry and trade addresses from the World War II period. The publication contains detailed data on thousands of industrial, commercial, and export companies from the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and Slovakia from 1943.
The copy measures 21.5 × 14 cm, and is very spacious — it is 8.5 cm thick, with a volume exceeding 1,700 pages. On pages 1 and 4 of the cover, there are signs of intervention in the form of old glueing, typical for vintage copies. I describe the book's condition as vintage, consistent with the photos, showing visible signs of use appropriate for its age.
The publication title is 'Industrie-Compass. Böhmen und Mähren (AND) Slovakia', published in 1943 (73rd issue), by Compassverlag, in German. The uniqueness of this copy is highlighted by the red band on the cover with the inscription 'Secret!', as well as annotations regarding the status of state secrecy and the need for safekeeping, making it a fascinating artifact documenting the economic realities and censorship of that period.
Publications like 'Industrie-Compass' were created as essential tools for the economy—especially under wartime conditions and centralized management. The German occupying authorities needed precise data for planning, resource control, raw material allocation, directing production for the war machine, and monitoring economic entities. The designation 'Geheim!' indicates that the contained information was considered strategic and intended solely for internal use, further emphasizing its importance.
An ideal specimen for collectors of military memorabilia, economic historians, World War II researchers, and enthusiasts of rare books and archives seeking an authentic, unique testament of the era.
I do not ship to the USA (customs barrier).
