Mechanical chess clock with a wooden case dating from ca. 1960–1970, origins in DDR (Germany), in very good condition.
Description from the seller
Vintage Guard – Ruhla chess clock – 1960s/70s – Germany (GDR)
Very beautiful mechanical chess clock with a wooden case and double dials.
The clocks are marked 'Ruhla,' with the well-known red star symbol, a recognizable feature of East German production at that time.
At the front, there is a Garde-label, the brand name under which these clocks were sold internationally.
It is a mechanical model with two separate clocks operated by metal buttons on top — perfect for classic chess or as a decorative collectible for enthusiasts of vintage sports and game accessories.
The cabinet is made of wood (beech veneer) and is in beautiful vintage condition, with light signs of use appropriate for its age. The metal edges around the dials and the red stars on the dials give it a typical Eastern Bloc design that is very popular among collectors today.
