An inscribed first edition of Arnold Keppel's 'Gun-Running and the Indian North-West Frontier....', published in London, 1911. The upper fe in the present copy with an ink manuscript gift inscription 'To my Tutor Mr A.C.G. Heggate with affectionate remembrance of the Author', dated May, 1912.
A scarce account of the Zhakka Khel and Mohmand Expeditions of 1908, the Makran Field Force in 1911-12 at the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf in that period.
8vo, bound in original publishers green cloth gilt. Original plain endpapers.
The contents are complete in x, 214, [2]pp, including the halftitle, with the tissue guarded photographic frontispiece, vignette to titlepage, folding plate, twelve photographic plates and two folding maps present as called for on list.
Condition: Binding is holding firmly and in good condition, lightly rubbed and marked to surfaces, scuffed to hinges, short split to centre of upper hinge and opposing small hole to lower, bumping and abrasion to extremities/corners and spine ends. Contents are holding firmly although upper endpaper joint cracked and the mull exposed, generally in good condition if a little toned, with some sporadic light foxing, heavier between pp119-185 and to initial/final few leaves, occasional creases to corners and bumping to foredges, upper and lower fe's browned. Author's ink manuscript gift inscription to upper fe. Please see images for further condition.
