She studied in an art studio from the age of 12, twice winning the city competition "Nature through the Eyes of Children." She attended the Kharkiv Art High School in 1985, and began painting in oils in 1999. She loves landscapes the most, but is also drawn to still lifes. She prefers realistic painting, but also enjoys working in the surrealist style. Maria's paintings have been shown in solo exhibitions in Ukraine and the UK. She has held two solo exhibitions in Portsmouth at Ortho Space and The Lodge Arte Center. The most recent exhibition featuring her paintings was held in Dnipro, Ukraine, titled "The Art of the Unconquered."
