French bread cart from ca. 1910–1920, made of metal, measuring 110 cm high by 110 cm long by 70 cm deep, in good used condition with small signs of aging and stains.
Description from the seller
Unique and rare bread cart.
The dimensions are 110 high, 110 long, and 70 deep. The cart was actually used for years to sell baked goods on the streets.
It is an antique French baker's cart or bread cart – from the early to mid-20th century. The text 'Boulangerie - Pâtisserie' refers to a bakery and pastry shop. Such carts were formerly used by bakers or market vendors to sell bread, pastries, or other goods in villages and towns.
Such baker's bikes, also known as 'triporteurs,' were a commonly used means of transportation in France in the early 20th century for local traders such as bakers, butchers, and market vendors. They were often custom-made by local bicycle manufacturers or artisans and are recognizable by their sturdy construction and functional design. The presence of a copper oil lamp suggests that the bike dates from before the widespread introduction of electric lighting, placing it before 1920-1930.
Features:*
Handmade wooden frame with painted decoration.
Blue and yellow vertical stripes, typical of French market carts.
Large central wheel and two smaller wheels for stability.
Folding or hinged lid for presenting or storing goods.
Collectible for enthusiasts of vintage and/or French household items.
Can serve decoratively in hospitality, retail, or interiors.
