Description from the seller
Cornelius Yao Augustt Azaglo 1924 - 2001
Cornelius Y.A Azaglo established his studio in 1955 in Korhogo, Ivory Coast.
The photographic activity back then was very intense because it was necessary to survey the rural population. Augustt didn't just settle for photographing faces as requested! With his Rolleiflex 6x6, he let the frame overflow and captured the subjects in their entirety!
This is followed by a series of extraordinary realistic and ethnographic portraits.
Her work was first recognized in 1994 at the Cultural Center of Abidjan, then hosted at the Bamako Photography Encounters in 1994.
Then at the Centre Georges Pompidou and the Guggenheim in New York in 1996. The same year, a solo exhibition was dedicated to him at the 2nd Bamako Encounters.
A monograph is dedicated to him/her in the Revue Noire collection.
The image is presented under a 25x25 passe-partout.
