An 18th‑century period seal signet in 18 ct yellow gold, set with an oval carved carnelian stone, in a richly engraved design with heraldic motifs.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Superb and authentic seal stamp from a historical period.
The frame is made of yellow gold and features remarkable chasing work. The body is richly crafted with designs of scrolls and arabesques. The circular base is finely decorated with gadroons. The tray is set with a magnificent oval-shaped carnelian stone, with a warm, translucent reddish-orange color.
The stone is engraved in intaglio (in relief) with great finesse. It depicts a detailed heraldic coat of arms:
A central shield featuring a lion rampant.
The shield is crowned with a nobility crown, 1st Count of Geneva.
The coat of arms is supported by two lions (or fantastical creatures) on either side. It is in excellent condition for its age. The engraving on the stone is clear, deep, and very well preserved. The gold mount has a beautiful patina and shows no major flaws, only slight traces of time that add to its charm and authenticity. This is a rare and elegant historical piece, perfect for a collector, an heraldry enthusiast, or to be worn as a unique piece of jewelry full of character. A magnificent gift or a valuable investment.
