Borek Sipek (1949-2016) studied interior design at the School of Arts and Crafts in Prague.
Sipek fled Czechoslovakia in 1968 after the Soviet troops' invasion of the capital, Prague. He settled in Germany, where he studied architecture and philosophy. In 1983, he moved to the Netherlands, opening a design studio in Amsterdam. During those years, he began his collaboration with Driade. After the fall of communism in 1989, he returned to Prague.
Sipek was mainly known for his baroque and colorful glass art. His work is among those owned by the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. In the 1990s, a major retrospective exhibition of his work was also held there. Well-known people such as Bill Clinton, Mick Jagger, and Karl Lagerfeld also own works by Sipek.
