You are bidding on a very fine 4/4 french violin after Maggini, labeled ¨Sebastien Vuillaume a Paris Boulevard Bonne-Nouvelle SV.¨
The instrument is in good condition with many old professionally repaired cracks on top, good rosewood and ebony set up, old pirastro strings. The violin has an excellent high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of strongly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. Back length (excluding bottom of neck): 360 mm.
Total length: 590 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 167 mm; middle bouts: 113 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. Golden amber reddish varnish over lighter ground with some tears and wears.
