Virginia Rivas – Madrid 1981
The University of Extremadura has fostered its interest in versatility between visual and plastic arts. It currently continues its career in Hervás (Cáceres), with education at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Salamanca, the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, and in its hometown, where it returned in 2014 after working for a year as an artist/teacher at the University of Liberties of Udine (Italy) with a Grundtvig scholarship.
Works with painting, video, and installation—media that explore the connection between the individual and the environment and create a sociological discourse from an intimate perspective. She is interested in the viewer as an active agent: their engagement, interpretation, and interaction with the work and space. She analyzes the social landscape through light, color, and sound, an artistic practice that she combines with workshops and conferences.
Represented by the DDR Art Gallery and the Adora Calvo Gallery. Member and founding member of AVAEX Visual Artists and Associates of Extremadura // Member of BNM Blanco, Negro y Magenta, the Association of Women Artists of Madrid.
