France, Mid XXth Century table linen with 16 napkins, linen, white, 2.40 m by 1.65 m; eight large napkins 45 cm × 46 cm and eight finger wipe napkins 16 cm × 18 cm; as new condition.

When this magnificent table linen arrived with 16 napkins I had to look
several times whether it was hand embroidered or machine embroidered.
It turned out to be the latter. ( no loose threads at the reverse )
It is as new and hardly ever used.
The colours are still as vibrant as when it was first woven and for most of its
life it has been sitting in the armoire, awaiting to deck the dining room table.
The rectangular open thread work top has garlands of small red and blue flowers.
On the 4 corners are "horse shoe" like pieces to compliment the top.
In the centre are 2 medallions of 4 floral posy's and at the top and bottom a semi circular piece.
Outside the rectangular piece are scatterings of single flowers.
The edgings are hand embroidered with a continual garland of blue yarn with
little red dots.
There are 8 napkins measuring 45cm x 46cm
and 8 finger wipe napkins measuring 16cm x 18 cm
The large napkins have in the corner a richly filled bouquet of flowers
whereas the smaller napkin s just a single flower.
They are again hemmed as per the table linen.
