Luxurious facsimile edition of one of the most famous documents in French theatre history, as it is a firsthand testimony of Molière and his troupe, created for the tercentenary of the playwright's death.
Accompanied by the booklet 'Note on La Grange and its Register' by Sylvie Chevalley, illustrated with a few black-and-white illustrations.
Register established by Charles Varlet, known as La Grange (1635-1692), a student and favorite actor of Molière, his companion for fourteen years, and second-in-command of his troupe. The receipts from performances and mentions of major incidents are recorded there between 1658 and 1685.
Work printed on September 11, 1972, in commemoration of the tricentennial of Molière's death. It is adorned with small geometric figures in the margins of the pages, highlighted in colors using stencils.
Paperback, under a vellum cover with a flap and imitation leather laces, in a cardboard box with a mounted vignette on the front cover and a title label on the spine.
In good condition despite the damaged casing (split clasp and scratches), fresh and clean interior, free of rust. A fine example.
There is no mention of drawing.
