Description from the seller

Painting by the Cuban artist Lolo Soldevilla. Origin: Sarracino Gallery, Coral Gables, Florida. COA: Martha Flora Carranza-Barba, September 26, 2011.

Biography

Loló Soldevilla studied music in Havana and later sculpture at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris (1949-1950).

In 1957, Soldevilla, together with Pedro de Oraá, founded Galería de Arte Color-Luz in Havana. The gallery became a meeting place for artists working in the abstract-geometric style, particularly the members of the group Diez Pintores Concretos, active from 1958 until the gallery's closure in 1961. Other well-known Cuban artists from the same group include Sandu Darie, Pedro de Oraá, Wifredo Arcay, and Jose Maria Mijares.
