Rare and beautiful illustrated edition of 6 erotic copper engravings by Valentine Hugo, for the cover, Galanis, Creixams, Grau Sala, Catty, and Revol.
Limited to only 88 numbered copies, this one on pure Lana white vellum bears the number 11 (after 10 copies on Japan).
Enriched with an original engraving by Georges Charaire, hand-numbered 15 / 50.
Enclosed is an envelope containing an invitation from the Galerie A.R.T for the presentation of the book Les Veines Ouvertes (Georges Charaire, Valentine Hugo); on November 25, 1953.
Leaves, in a green padded cover illustrated with a engraving by Valentine Hugo. In a double green cardboard slipcase, title printed on the spine. Slipcase worn, rubbed, with the spine of the dust jacket slightly cracked. Interior impeccable. A fine copy.
Georges-Michel Charaire, born on August 26, 1914, in Paris 14th arrondissement, and died on September 23, 2001, in the same city, was a French writer and engraver. In 1950, Charaire founded the Théâtre du Tertre, which would become one of Paris's main experimental theatres. Eugène Ionesco, his close friend, made his debut there. Charaire also hosted the first exhibition of painter Frédéric Menguy in 1957.
Valentine Hugo, born Valentine Marie Augustine Gross, in Boulogne-sur-Mer on March 16, 1887, and died in Paris on March 16, 1968, was a French painter and illustrator.
