Fascinating sixteenth-century edition of the extraordinary collection of treatises on methods of treating diseases by the great Greek medical surgeon and philosopher. The work contains a Treatise on Therapeutic Methods, three Treatises on easily prepared remedies, various Treatises on pediatric epilepsy, eye and kidney diseases, surgery, fractures, and dislocations, with descriptions of various types of bandages, ligatures, and orthopedic traction and containment equipment. Half leather binding. Title in a gold inlay on the spine. Beautiful illustrated frontispiece with eight fine vignettes depicting medical scenes and a central title. Woodcut printer’s mark on the frontispiece. Gorgeous headpieces and decorated initial capitals. Illustrated with numerous engravings showing orthopedic equipment, bandages, and orthopedic rehabilitation methods. Folio size 34x25 cm, 292 pages (full sheet numbering). Signs of woodworm in the white margins at the top and bottom. Water stains on some pages. Excellent condition.
