-Winnie Winkle is an American comic strip published during a 76-year span (1920–1996). The stories and artwork were by Martin Branner, who wrote the strip for over 40 years. Winnie Winkle is one of the first comics about working women. Winnie's adopted younger brother, Perry Winkle (in fact an imitation of Buster Brown) quickly became the most popular character of the strip. The Chicago Tribune Syndicate launched the comic strip on September 20, 1920.
By 1939, Winnie Winkle was running in more than 140 newspapers and sold worldwide. Perry Winkle became very popular in translation as "Bicot" in France, from 1924 on, and as "Sjors van de Rebellenclub" in the Netherlands starting 1938. The translated version inspired Willy Vandersteen, Bob de Moor and Marc Sleen for a long running series of gags named "De Vrolijke Bengels / De Lustige Kapoentjes" published in Flemish newspapers, featuring the typical wooden clubhouse.
- Jane Arden was an internationally syndicated daily newspaper comic strip which ran from November 26, 1928 to January 20, 1968. The title character was the original "spunky girl reporter", actively seeking to infiltrate and expose criminal activity rather than just report on its consequences and served as a prototype for later characters such as Superman supporting character Lois Lane and fellow comic strip heroine Brenda Starr, Reporter.
Jane Arden was created by writer Monte Barrett and artist Frank Ellis. Barrett wrote the strip until his death in 1949.
The pages are in good condition, although wrinkles, tears, flaking and missing pieces may occur.
The pages were conserved in brown paper bags and will be delivered as such, however also wrapped in plastic.
Will be shipped with track&trace.
