AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

This is a museum painting by Simon Jacobz. De Vlieger 1601-1653.
This magnificent work is painted with incredible detail, and Simon de Vlieger was already very popular in his time for this.
Even Rembrandt dealt with the paintings of Simon de Vlieger.
This painting is also registered with the RKD and is associated with Simon de Vlieger.
(See photos)
Origin Douwes 1928.
The painting is not signed (probably faded over the centuries) but I was still able to find a remnant of the date in the lower right corner.
A jewel of a painting and an enrichment to any collection.
The list is also antique.

The Dutch artist Simon de Vlieger mainly painted seascapes, but he also created some landscapes, beach scenes, and portraits. Simon de Vlieger is praised for his very precise depiction of ships and their rigging. His cloudy skies are also appreciated.
Course
Simon de Vlieger was born around 1601. He grew up in Rotterdam and moved to Delft in 1634. From 1638, he lived in Amsterdam. Little is known about Simon de Vlieger. For example, we are not even sure who he learned the trade from. Some suggest Jan Porcellis or Jan van Goyen, but it remains unclear, as even his year and place of birth are unknown. We do know that he taught Willem van de Velde the Younger and Jan van de Capelle.
Sea views
Contemporaries praised his precision and nautical knowledge. Simon de Vlieger is still celebrated for his very accurate depictions of ships and their rigging. Additionally, De Vlieger's characteristic Dutch cloudscapes and the sunlight falling through them are spectacular. Experts suggest that the well-known landscape painter Albert Cuyp may have learned from this, but this is not certain.
Strandscènes
In the last twenty-five years, a large number of beach scenes emerged. The first appeared around 1630. This period is called the flourishing period of Simon de Vlieger. He spent his final years in Weesp, where he bought a house in 1649. Towards the end of his life, Simon de Vlieger mainly painted seascapes and forests.
