Gonçalo Reis, also known as “Gongas,” is a talented young artist from Lisbon, Portugal.
Born in 2001, he is the son of the iconic graffiti artist Nomen, and has been immersed in the world of street art his entire life. Growing up surrounded by influential figures like Nomen, Youth, Utopia, Ram, and Exas, Gonçalo's work is deeply shaped by Portugal's vibrant graffiti culture.
His unique style stands out because of the distinctive textures, drips, and effects that define each of his pieces, making them one-of-a-kind. Every artwork is hand-signed by the artist on both the front and back, along with the creation date, further highlighting the personal touch Gongas brings to each work.
Gonçalo's true purpose as an artist is to craft unique and expressive pieces that elevate the spaces they occupy. When you purchase a work by him, you’re not just acquiring a painting – you’re bringing home something truly special, as each piece is entirely unique.
Interestingly, Gongas began his artistic journey in late 2021, at just 20 years old. Contrary to what one might expect, his initial works were not paintings but decorative wall clocks. Eager to stand out, Gonçalo first created clocks using epoxy resin, featuring abstract designs. He soon transitioned to spray-painted clocks, before discovering his passion for painting on canvas in February 2022.
Driven by a desire to grow, Gonçalo started selling his art at local markets and fairs across Portugal.
The overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers encouraged him to shift to online sales, and in just three years, he has created and sold over 800 paintings to buyers in 32 countries, marking his impressive rise as an artist in the global art scene.
