Biography CANNED

Canned is a French artist duo formed by Charlotte Parenteau-Denoël and Mofart’z. Their work is based on the stencil technique, which they boldly subvert to create striking, minimalist, and conceptual images. Their compositions, often in black and white but sometimes enhanced with bright colors, blend visual humor, social critique, and poetry of everyday life.

Their artistic approach is part of what they call 'Brain Art': an art of reflection through images. Each piece offers a dual reading, combining the immediate impact of a striking visual with a subtle, sometimes absurd or paradoxical idea. The titles—often in English—are an integral part of this dynamic, adding an extra dimension to the interpretation.

Charlotte has a dual background in art history and interior architecture. Mofart’z has worked as a set designer for cinema. This complementarity nurtures their shared universe, where graphic rigor, staging, and visual culture intertwine.

Their common goal is to subvert the codes and symbols of overindustrialization and overconsumption society to mock them. Their art, eclectic in techniques (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography…), remains faithful to a minimalist and conceptual visual style.

Canned develops a unique language at the intersection of street art and contemporary art, accessible and intelligent, where the image makes you smile as much as it makes you question. They exhibit and sell alongside works by renowned artists such as Blek le Rat, Shepard Fairey (Obey), Banksy, Mr Brainwash, and many others.

They have gained international recognition and distribute their works in France, as well as in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Hong Kong, Australia…
