Le Décaméron - Complet 3 Tomes [Jean de Bonnot], illustrated by Jean Boccace, in a French leather‑bound illustrated edition, three volumes, published by Jean de Bonnot in Paris in 1971, in French, 943 pages, with inserted plates, 21 x 14.5 cm, condition as new.
Description from the seller
The Tales also known as The Decameron by Maistre Jean Boccace Florentine, translated from Italian by Antoine Sabatier (known as Sabatier de Castres) and illustrated with 237 old woodcuts, including the Florentine incunabula from the first edition - Complete 3 volumes in 8° - Editions at Jean de Bonnot, Paris 1971.
The book called Decameron, nicknamed Prince Galeotto, in which one hundred novellas are told over ten days by an honest company of seven ladies and three young men.
Green full leather publisher's bindings, flat boards bordered with framed characters in gold with a gold fleur-de-lis at the centers, smooth spine with title and volume numbers, decorated with the same motif as on the boards, gilded heads, decorated endpapers and guards with vegetal and zoomorphic motifs, 342, 309, 292 pages, size: 21 x 14.5 cm - Printed on fine laid paper - Frontispieces, chapter headbands, and tailpieces at the end of chapters - Very beautiful copies. Like new!
