Description from the seller
I live and work in Slovakia, and delivery within the European Union takes 7–10 days.
In “Line of Light,” I wanted to capture a moment of tense silence — a state in which a person seems partly hidden, yet reveals everything through their gaze. The girl is shielded by a leaf, but her eyes look directly at the viewer, carrying a sense of quiet determination and unspoken emotion.
The central element for me is the horizontal band of light across her face. It divides the image into two emotional states: concealed and revealed, shadow and openness, stillness and inner movement. This line of light shapes the rhythm of the composition and guides the viewer toward the inner essence of the character.
I painted the work with acrylics, building soft transitions and atmospheric tones through layered applications. Texture paste was used mainly in the background to create a tactile, expressive surface that contrasts with the smoothness of the face and enhances depth. The fragmented, vibrant background — with its reds, violets, and deep blues — supports the emotional tension of the portrait and keeps the viewer’s eye moving.
For me, this painting is about light that does not simply illuminate the face, but reveals an inner world, making it visible and almost tangible.
