Description from the seller
Original collective edition, some pieces of which relate to gastronomy and oenology, illustrated on the frontispiece with a portrait of the author by Louis Chevalier engraved by Lalauze.
Enriched copy with a card signed by Hélène and Jacques Bon: [For Alain and Nelly, from Hélène and Jacques Bon, this work, poetic, literary, and gastronomic (and therefore medical)].
Bound with a cover signed by E. Rousselle (active during the second half of the 19th century on rue de Savoie in Paris). Executed in dark blue half-morocco, with a gold line along the boards, spine with raised bands highlighted by gold lines, gold compartments decorated with small tools, and the title and date in gold lettering. Gilt head. First cover preserved (without the spine).
In very good condition. Binding of excellent quality, sturdy and clean. Slight scuffs on the heads. Paper slightly yellowed, and the last pages (table) browned, with no foxing or very rare instances.
Printed on beautiful watermark paper (vellum?).
This collection brings together texts written over nearly 40 years. Monselet is best known as a gourmand critic, satirical novelist, journalist, epicurean, and living symbol of Parisian bohemia.
