Nan Laar, Aan de Rand van het Licht, an original oil on canvas portrait, 80 × 120 cm, created in 2025 in the Netherlands, signed on the front, rolled shipment with a certificate, sold directly by the artist, weight 4 kg, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
In 'Aan de Rand van het Licht,' Nan Laar captures a still, almost cinematic moment between a woman and a child. They stand side by side by the water, both lost in their own thoughts, connected but each with their own inner world softly illuminated in the reflections of the water.
The light plays a leading role: golden patches dance across the surface, dissolving into cool turquoise and deep blue. The background suggests boats and structures, but remains diffuse, as if the world is only half-present and the moment itself is the only true reality.
Laars's expressive figurative style is immediately recognizable: broad, spontaneous brushstrokes, subtle transparent layers, and a color palette that moves between realism and an almost dreamy abstraction.
The different shades of blue breathe tranquility and depth; the warm tones around the figures bring softness, humanity, and a quiet emotional strength.
The painting tells a story of closeness, reflection, and an unexpected silence in which two people momentarily merge completely with the light surrounding them.
A work that takes the viewer to that one moment when water and emotion seamlessly blend — precisely as is characteristic of Nan Laars' refined and poetic oeuvre.
Dimensions: 80 x 120 cm
Medium: oil paint on canvas
Not ready to hang: no, the painting is rolled up and needs to be re-stretched by your local framer.
Attention! The paintings are freshly out of the studio and in oil paint, so the oil paint is not fully cured yet. Some caution is advised!
Signature: front side, also signed Certificate Year: 2025
Shipping: rolled in a tube
Sending rolled, extra large formats is safer and more environmentally friendly than sending ready-made works. The canvas can easily be stretched by a framer at your location.
