All wines in good shape and also the labels. Labels are a bit dusty, but still in good shape.
The 2011 Alion is pure Tempranillo from vineyards averaging 25 to 30 years of age, harvested early (second half of September) matured for 16 months in new Nevers barrels (that’s a difference with Vega Sicilia; for Alion all wood is French). It is an exuberant, ripe Alion, with hedonist’s aromas that jump out of the glass.
Bodegas Mauro was established in 1980 by Mariano García (Vega Sicilia’s 40 year winemaker) in homage to his father. Enclaved halfway along the River Duero in the Castilian town of Tudela, the Bodegas Mauro philosophy from the very beginning has been based on producing age-worthy wines that are deeply rooted in the territory, organic and biodynamic.
Winemaker Notes
Magnificent fruit integrity and natural concentration on the nose, still with clear primary notes. Precise tannins, freshness and unctuous feel.
Mas Martinet’s Priorat Martinet Bru is made from grapes grown on the Mas Seró vineyard, located in the "Vi de Vila" area of Masos de Falset. This terroir is unique in that its stony slate soil (llicorella) and the refreshing sea breeze (Garbinada) favor a slow and gradual ripening of the grapes. The combination of these two natural characteristics give rise to wines that boast a beautiful freshness, fine tannins along with delicious notes of liquorice, blackberry and rosemary.
