Complete set of 28 Suske en Wiske Classic albums by Willy Vandersteen, softcover, new condition, first edition/reprint, in Dutch, published by Standaard Uitgeverij (2017–2019).
Description from the seller
Complete set of 28 Suske en Wiske Classic albums. This reissue series was provided with sturdy white covers.
This series started on May 17, 2017.
For the first 16 parts of the series, the editions from the four-color series were used as the basis. The stories from the Blue series, such as The Secret of the Gladiators, were published in a shortened form used in the Red series. Notable stories, such as The King Drinks, were released with modernized illustrations.
This setup was released starting from part 17, The Flying Ape. That album, one of the first adventures of Suske and Wiske, was published with the original drawings from 1946. The same applies to the next part, Lambiorix.
For the stories released with the original illustrations, a decision was also made to use the original cover drawings.
The Blue Series stories released in 2019, Het Spaanse spook, De Tartaarse helm, and De bronzen sleutel, retained their original length in the reissue of this series.
Due to this change in the setup, it could more rightly be called a Classics series.
On October 1, 2019, with part 28, Jeromba de Griek, the last part in this series was released. The series will not be continued further.
A signature of Willy Vandersteen is printed on all parts of the series. Shortly after the release of the first four parts, fans noticed that the signature visible on the covers was actually written by Paul Geerts.
Handwriting expert Kees Verhulst wrote an article about this for the site De Stripspeciaalzaak, in which he compared various signatures of Vandersteen and Geerts.
When albums 5 through 8 were released, the publisher corrected this mistake. From that point on, Vandersteen's own signature can be seen on the covers.
It was intended that reprints of the first four albums would also receive the correct signatures. However, this has not been realized.
During the course of the series, the comic prices increased to 9.99, which is why some copies were fitted with an extra price sticker.
The series is completely new and unread, and I stored it in my cabinet. However, when listing this lot, I noticed that the album De Bronzen Sleutel had a sticker on the cover that remained attached when removed, causing minor damage. That is why the cover is shown separately in the photo. The other stickers came off neatly.
In addition to the usual signs of use from taking items in and out of the closet (being on the shelf), the entire collection is therefore in unread, new condition.
Shipping prices have been looked up via PostNL for the Netherlands, Belgium, and France (the three logical destinations). For the cheapest option, if you want insured shipping, I will need to look that up, just like the shipping costs to another country.
Pickup at my place in Rotterdam is also possible.
