The second volume (The Mermaid Madonna) is a first edition of one of Myrivilis’ most beloved novels.

About the Author

Efstratios Stamatopoulos (1890–1969), known by his pen name Stratis Myrivilis, was a major figure of the “Generation of the ’30s” and one of Greece’s most significant 20th-century authors. He was nominated three times for the Nobel Prize in Literature (1960, 1962, 1963), and his works—especially Life in the Tomb, The Mermaid Madonna, and The Schoolmistress with the Golden Eyes—are considered cornerstones of Greek literary history.
