Description from the seller
The Château Guillot Clauzel Pomerol 1999 is a classic Bordeaux from the Right Bank, primarily Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Franc. It is an elegant yet mature wine, now displaying soft, tertiary aromas of leather, tobacco, and dried fruit.
Appellation: Pomerol (Bordeaux, Right Bank)
Producer: Château Guillot Clauzel, a small cru of approximately 2.4 hectares, situated between prestigious neighbors such as Château Trotanoy and Château Le Pin.
Grape varieties: Merlot and Cabernet Franc
Alcohol content: approximately 13.5%
Tasting notes (1999)
Color: Dark ruby red upon release, now lighter with a brick-red rim.
Nose: Ripe red fruits (raspberry, plum), complemented by tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, forest floor, and a hint of spice.
Palate: Powerful and full-bodied in its youth, with firm yet refined tannins. Now softer, with more emphasis on dried fruit, earth, and an elegant finish.
Structure: Classic Pomerol – round, supple, yet with plenty of backbone.
Food Pairing
Ideal with: Classic French dishes such as beef bourguignon, leg of lamb, game dishes, or truffle risotto.
Cheese: Mature hard cheeses (Comté, aged Gouda) or soft cheeses with earthy notes.
