Description from the seller
MiLo – “Floras Negras III”
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
Floras Negras III continues MiLo’s expressive exploration of abstract botanical forms.
Sharp, dark silhouettes rise from a pale, textured ground, their shapes echoing petals, stems, and clustered growth — a garden reduced to bold, essential geometry. The interplay of black against warm beige gives the scene a sculptural presence, while scattered speckles and underlying scratches introduce a sense of atmosphere and motion, as if the garden has been caught in a moment of wind, rain, or shifting light.
At once primitive and modern, the composition blends raw mark-making with stylised forms, creating an image that feels both symbolic and alive.
Part of MiLo’s evolving floral series, this work brings a stronger contrast and a slightly more narrative arrangement, suggesting a group of plants reaching upward together.
The painting will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box, without frame, and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
