Obverse: Bust of the Portuguese Republic facing left, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with laurel leaves and ears of wheat. The legend "REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA" appears around the perimeter. The date 1916 is at the bottom. Reverse: The coat of arms of Portugal centered on an armillary sphere, surrounded by two laurel branches joined by a ribbon. The legend "50 CENTAVOS" appears at the bottom. This coin was minted during the First Portuguese Republic, a period characterized by political instability and significant economic changes. Despite this, the piece reflects a classic design with strong national symbolism. This coin is encapsulated by NGC with a grade of MS 62, guaranteeing its excellent condition.
