VITYRA – モノクロⅢ - No Reserve, 2025, original mixed media on canvas (100 x 140 cm), hand signed, Austria, Contemporary, original edition.
Description from the seller
モノクロⅢ
Ultramarine pigment on canvas
100 x 140 cm (39 x 55 inches)
モノクロⅢ (Monokuro III) - Japenese for monochrome - continues VITYRA’s exploration of pure color as both surface and space. At 100 x 140 cm, the work occupies the viewer’s field of vision almost completely, transforming the familiar rectangle of the canvas into an immersive blue environment.
The painting is executed on a fine cotton canvas, prepared and layered with a specially developed ultramarine pigment mixture. Using rare pigments and tailored chemical components sourced from France, VITYRA has created a tone that recalls the iconic blue of Yves Klein while remaining unmistakably his own. The finish is matte and velvety, with a powdered quality that absorbs and scatters light rather than reflecting it, so the blue seems to deepen and shift as one moves around the piece.
Though the surface initially reads as a single, uninterrupted field of color, closer inspection reveals delicate variations - subtle transitions, faint traces of gesture, tiny irregularities in the pigment. These nuances embody the spirit of wabi-sabi that runs through VITYRA’s practice: the quiet beauty found in small imperfections and in the evidence of the artist’s hand.
This original painting by VITYRA is hand-signed on the reverse side to preserve the purity of the artwork’s surface and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. VITYRA is represented by S-Gallery, a well-known gallery for Viennese boundary-pushing contemporary artists. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a secure, protective tube - an eco-friendly and safe method that reduces shipping costs and risk of damage. The canvas measures 100 x 140 cm (39 x 55 inches), with an extra 5 cm border on each side for easy re-stretching. Frame placement is lightly marked on the back to assist precise mounting.
