Gama Sennin (Toad Immortal) is a legendary Taoist immortal from Chinese folklore, known for either commanding or transforming into a large toad. Gama Sennin is believed to possess supernatural powers, including immortality, and is closely associated with the "gama" (toad), particularly a giant toad.
The Legend of Gama Sennin
In Taoist mythology, Gama Sennin is often depicted as a master of magical arts, using the power of a toad to seek out medicinal herbs or elixirs. This legend is rooted in the ancient belief that toads symbolize regeneration and longevity. A three-legged toad, in particular, is considered a symbol of wealth and fortune, and Gama Sennin is thought to use this to bring blessings and prosperity to people.
