Biography
Federica Scaletta is a passionate artist in all aspects, spanning painting and photography. She has dedicated herself to contemporary art, exhibiting in various group shows worldwide.
After an artistic stop lasting a few years, he transforms his passion into a genuine activity.
In her studio in Arquata Scrivia, on the border between Liguria and Piemonte, Federica decides to unleash her strong passion for interior design, blending her painting techniques with those of interior decorative techniques. She has been dedicated for a few years to creating a new decorative style, with an eclectic and personal soul. She favors restoration, often creating her works not only on canvas but also on antique or vintage furniture, wallpaper, and decorative panels. She uses natural paints that leave a unique flavor on the surfaces.
He said of himself: “I have a strong passion for ancient architecture. The walls and crumbling plasters, the patina that the passage of time leaves on objects, hold a special fascination for me—a story to tell, so much so that I want to recreate them myself.
The fabric as a support for work was not enough, so I naturally found it fitting to move to a surface that combined my love for interior decorating with my passion for art and design; I found it in antique furniture.

FEDERICA SCALETTA – The appearance of the walls
Federica Scaletta is a traditional painter, and on an expressive level, she is an existential realist. The idea of experimenting solely to surprise the observer does not even cross her mind.
Born in Savona in 1972, from childhood she carried within her the irreplaceable itch for drawing and color. At the Art High School in Savona, she learned the techniques and rules of painting, assimilating them so deeply that nothing in her works is left to chance. No teacher influenced her: the melancholic expressiveness we find in her works stems from her particular intuition and the emotion that transforms on the canvas into form and color. Federica Scaletta is an artist determined in her thematic choices, but when she is in her studio in Serravalle, in the province of Alessandria, she wishes to remain alone, in complete silence.
His approach to art develops with deliberate slowness. His work oscillates between existential realism and social themes. Among these are compositions like Obama and Libertà: works of strong civic pathos, skillfully created with collage, acrylics, and mixed media. The artist feels the unrest of our time and translates it precisely onto the canvas, leaving nothing to chance.
The message comes through strongly to the viewer, conveying the same emotions that the painter felt while creating the work.
Works of social commitment contrast with those where the protagonists are the walls and houses of our cities.
They are paintings with a strong sense of intimacy, which sometimes seem to border on informal expressionism, but if the gaze delves into the fabric of the composition, it immediately perceives clear references to the surrounding reality—disturbing architectural glimpses and mural scratches.
The Decadimenti urbani cycle is characterized by an almost monochromatic palette, serving the pictorial message of mute immobility that the painter aims to communicate. The works dedicated to Venice are intensely lyrical: it is not the lagoon city so beloved by tourists that Federica Scaletta captures in her representations, but a hidden Venice, corroded by time, humidity, and human neglect.
