Two parts in one book, printed in Lyon, published by Michel Dubois for Antoine Vincent and Jean Frellon, from the year 1553. Bound in a contemporary wooden cover with blind-tooled pigskin covering, without book clasps.
Collation: 18 leaves, 679 pp., 29, 1 white leaf; 93, 1 white leaf, with 2 different publishers' names.
Adams P 1572; Baudrier V, 226; Gültlingen XI, 122, 14; Schweiger II2, 787; STC 357; not in Bird and Durling. – “The editor Jo. Nic. Victorius claims to have compared old manuscripts (albeit in the most depraved script); he also took into account the earlier editors. He speaks very modestly of his work. He also claims to have greatly improved the index” (Schweiger).
CONDITION: Good copy with signs of wear, good binding, hardly any staining inside, a few small wormholes. Cover rubbed, scuffed, and slightly bumped. The beautiful German embossed binding is more heavily worm-eaten, missing its two clasps, front pastedown with engraved coat of arms bookplate "Georgius Carolus de Brandstett" (18th century, not in Warnecke).
