This Showa period Japanese doll depicts a refined geisha gracefully holding a fan. She is dressed in a vivid red kimono adorned with fan-shaped designs featuring iris, peony, and maple leaves, alongside seasonal motifs of plum blossoms and chrysanthemums. The obi contrasts boldly in black and orange, decorated with large cherry blossoms and a hexagonal pattern, enhancing the elegance of her attire.
The fan she holds bears a golden background painted with green pines, a traditional symbol of longevity and endurance. Her face, neck, hands, and feet are finished with gofun, a fine white pigment made from oyster shell powder, giving a smooth and luminous complexion typical of traditional Japanese dolls.
The figure stands securely on a black lacquered wooden base, completing its dignified presentation.
There is visible adhesive on the fan, and minor blemishes are present, but overall the doll remains in good used condition. Please refer to the photos for details.
